Graft investigators will meet blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin by next week over his allegation on the littoral combat ship (LCS) project.
Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said his officers need some time to prepare to meet the blogger as it would have to take place overseas.
“We are setting the time, date and place and the matter is being discussed for us to take a statement from him.
“I believe by next week, my officers can meet Raja Petra,” he said.
Asked why the meeting had to take place overseas, Azam pointed out this was because the blogger could not return to Malaysia.
Raja Petra had alleged that former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamid had received kickbacks amounting to millions of ringgit connected to the LCS project.
He alleged that the former deputy prime minister received the money in eight staggered payments between 2012 and 2013.
He also claimed to have documents and evidence linking Ahmad Zahid to the scandal
Raja Petra had made the allegation in a video posted on his website on Tuesday.
MACC will decide whether to call Zahid for questioning after meeting Raja Petra.
“Whether MACC will call Zahid for statement recording, depends on what we get (from Raja Petra). We will have to examine (the documents) first,” Azam added.
