Police still waiting for two documents; medical and forensic reports not lost.

Perak police have lodged a report against a Facebook user for questioning their integrity in the investigation of a rape case involving a state executive council member.

State police chief Comm Datuk Razarudin Husain said they have opened an investigation paper against the owner of ‘1 Malaysia Tolak DAP’ for uploading a post, which alleged that the forensics report of the rape case had gone missing.

Comm Razarudin said that the post had alleged that there were “hidden hands” ordering the report to be disposed of.

“The post was linked to a statement made by Wanita MCA chairman Datuk Heng Seai Kie. We will also be calling her to get her statement, ” he said.

“We will investigate the matter under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act and Section 500 of the Penal Code, ” he added.

Section 233 handles “improper use of network facilities or network service”, while Section 500 deals with defamation.

It was earlier reported that the Facebook user misinterpreted a statement by MCA Wanita on the police probe into the alleged rape of an Indonesian maid by Perak exco member Paul Yong Choo Kiong.

The Facebook user had posted a message in Bahasa Malaysia on Monday which read, ‘The forensics report on the rape case of a Perak DAP exco is reported to be missing. How can it be missing? Are there invisible hands that ordered the report to be destroyed?’

The user also included a link to the MCA website, likely making a reference to a statement by Heng on Monday.

However, Heng’s statement was a criticism of the police in reference to the return of the investigation papers from the Attorney-General Chambers due to absence of the medical reports and forensic reports.

Heng’s statement read, “It is outrageous that the report of the alleged rape case involving Perak exco Paul Yong was returned, as a consequence of the police’s negligence in attaching the necessary medical reports and forensic reports. Furthermore, such delays will further set back the judiciary process.”

Comm Razarudin advised the public not to make any irresponsible remarks that could tarnish the image of the police.

He said the police were investigating the case transparently and diligently.

“The people should also stop speculating about the case, which could jeopardise investigations, ” he said in a statement on Tuesday (July 30).

The police are still waiting for the forensics report.

On July 8, a 23-year-old Indonesian woman lodged a police report alleging that she was raped by Tronoh assemblyman Yong at her employer’s house in Meru.

A day after the report was made, police arrested Yong who was later released on police bail after investigation was completed within 24 hours.

The case has been classified under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape based on preliminary investigations.
