Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad vowed on Thursday that he would look into the complaints about the six-man team that was tasked to probe into the disappearance of activist Amri Che Mat and Pastor Raymond Koh.

Dr Mahathir told reporters on Thursday that he acknowledges both families’ concerns but noted that the government could not please everybody with every move.

“Some people will be happy, some people won’t. I can’t guarantee 100% satisfaction of the people involved,” he said.

“Let me look into any complaints and improve,” he added.

Both families earlier questioned the appointments of some members of the task force and the possible ramifications to the independence and impartiality of the probe.

A special six-man team was formed to probe into the duo’s disappearance and former High Court Judge Datuk Abd Ramin Uda was named to head the team comprising former Royal Malaysian Police Legal Unit chief Datuk Mokhtar Mohd Noor, Bukit Aman Integrity and Standard Compliance department director Datuk Zamri Yahya, Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission operations director Datuk Bukhari Ab Hamid, Attorney General’s Chambers public prosecution division legal officer Mohd Sophian Zakaria, and Police Force Commission (SPP) for the Home Ministry secretary Mohd Russaini Idrus.

Koh’s wife, Susanna Liew, pointed out the task force’s non-inclusion of any woman or any other member of a different race or religion, adding that it did not reflect the country’s multiracial spirit.

Liew along with Amri’s wife Norhayati Mohd Ariffin lamented the inclusion of Mokhtar in the task force due to conflict of interest.

Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who named the six-member team, assured that the task force would be independent, despite some members being former and serving police officers.
