All eyes were on Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor as she arrived at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex at Jalan Duta at 8.30am after leaving the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters in Putrajaya at 7.45am in a black Toyota Alphard.

Clad in an orange baju kurung and scarf and heavily guarded by policemen, she smiled to the media who had been waiting for her from as early as 6am.

As she walked past the crowd of reporters, she appeared calm and even stopped to shake hands.

Also present was a small band of her supporters.

Rosmah was ushered into the Sessions Court located on level two of the building where she was charged with multiple counts of money laundering involving SRC International Sdn Bhd.

She was charged with 12 counts of money laundering, involving about RM7 million. The charges against her are under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.

She was also charged with five counts for failing to declare her income to the Inland Revenue Board.

The 67-year-old’s case was presided over by Sessions Court judge Azura Alwi.

Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram and Ahmad Akram Gharib are the prosecution team, while the defence is being led by Datuk K Kumaraendran and Datuk Geethan Ram Vincent.

Meanwhile, Rosmah’s husband, former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak arrived at about 8.40am at the High Court for the mention of his criminal breach of trust and power abuse case in connection with the transfer of RM42 million to his private bank account from former 1MDB unit SRC International.

He will appear before High Court judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali.

Dressed in a blue suit and a light blue shirt, he arrived in a Proton Perdana car and was also under heavy police escort.

The Pekan MP was smiling and waving to reporters upon entry into the court complex for his case management over graft-related charges scheduled at 9am.

The court made available 22 passes for local and foreign journalists to enter the courtrooms for both Rosmah’s and Najib’s cases.

Forty passes were given out for reporters to enter the video-link room for Rosmah’s case, and 20 passes for Najib’s.

Last night, some 30 supporters of Rosmah stationed themselves at the compound of the MACC headquarters where she was being detained.

Led by Umno Supreme Council member Lokman Noor Adam, some of the supporters were wearing orange T-shirts similar to those worn by MACC detainees.
