Questioning at anti-money laundering unit’s office over 1MDB and cash, luxury items seized by cops.
Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor arrived at Menara KPJ this morning to be questioned for matters related to 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
The wife of former premier Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was clad in a floral print black and white baju kurung with matching headscarf as she arrived in a Proton Perdana at about 9.50am on Friday (Oct 26) at Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department’s headquarters along Jalan Tun Razak in Kuala Lumpur.
Rosmah appeared calm as the media descended upon her, hoping to catch a picture and video of the high-profile wife of Najib.
She was accompanied by her lawyer K Kumaraendran.
Her sons Norashman Najib and Riza Aziz were also seen arriving in a black BMW 7 series at Menara KPJ.
No police were spotted at the lobby to welcome them. The trio, accompanied by lawyers, headed straight to the lift and were tight-lipped when asked by reporters about the police investigation.
It is learnt that Rosmah was supposed to meet Bukit Aman Anti-money Laundering and Anti-terrorism Financing Prevention (Amlatfa) division’s investigators in its probe on matters relating to sovereign fund 1MDB.
“Investigators will question her further on various issues relating to 1MDB, including the items seized from premises linked to her husband (Najib).
“It is part on the division’s investigation on various aspects linked to the sovereign fund,” The Star quoted a source as saying.
This is the first time Rosmah has been called in by AMLATFA as part of the 1MDB probe.
Rosmah is already facing 17 counts of money laundering, but it is unclear if the funds from those charges are related to 1MDB.
Riza is a co-founder of the US production firm Red Granite that is accused of using 1MDB funds to fund, among others, the Wolf of Wall Street film.
After three hours of grilling, Rosmah was spotted leaving the building with her two sons in a car at level five at about 1.10pm.
They managed to give the media the slip, as they left using another entrance at Menara KPJ.
