No registration of entry permit yet.
The Road Transport Department (RTD) has refuted a viral message on social media claiming that all Singaporean-registered vehicles entering peninsular Malaysia must register with the department’s ‘Vehicle Entry Permit’ (VEP) system.
The viral message on WhatsApp and social media sites urged people to register their vehicles from May 1 if they intend to bring their foreign-registered vehicle into the country to vote during the general election.
The RTD said the VEP was still at the testing and system validation stage to ensure stability and adequacy of the system before full enforcement could be implemented.
“We want to stress that, at present, there is no restriction on vehicles from overseas or Singapore entering without registration of entry permit or VEP.
” People are urged to not be influenced and believe such irresponsible claims,” it said in a statement.
