Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has been issued with a notice yet again to present himself to anti-graft authorities on Thursday (Oct 18).

The former deputy prime minister and Umno president was issued with the notice by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission officers at around 1.45pm on Wednesday (Oct 17).

He has been asked to be present at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya at around 3pm.

Umno supreme council member Datuk Lokman Noor Adam said Zahid has been notified to surrender himself to the MACC by tomorrow and is expected to be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Friday.

The vocal Umno leader has urged members to gather at the MACC building in Putrajaya tomorrow night as a mark of solidarity.

“Let us come to the defence of our president who is now a target of the cruel Mahathir-DAP regime. Do not let our president stand alone.

“Sacrifice only one day to defend the dignity of Umno that is now being torn apart by the rulers,” said Lokman in a message to party members.

He said members had nothing to fear as a peaceful gathering is not an offence.

Zahid has been called four times to answer questions on the alleged misappropriation of Yayasan Akal Budi funds.

The Umno president is the chairman of the foundation set up by his family to help eradicate poverty and provide Islamic education.

MACC is investigating claims that RM800,000 belonging to the foundation was used to pay off credit card bills.

He was first called up on the Yayasan Akal Budi case on July 3.

Last week saw Dr Ahmad Zahid returning three times to be interrogated by MACC investigators.
