A Barisan Nasional lawmaker suggested that perpetrators of sexual crimes against children, especially incest, should be branded with a hot iron.
Datuk Ahmad Lai Bujang (BN-Sibuti) said such a punishment was fitting as the entire family suffers when incest is involved.
“When these children are violated by their fathers or uncles, the whole family and their siblings will be affected,” he said during the question and answer session in Parliament on Thursday.
“How do we avoid the vengeance that this family would have against the perpetrator?” he added.
“May I suggest that the man who does such a thing…we take a hot iron rod and brand him so he feels the pain and suffering of the victim,” said Ahmad Lai.

Putrajaya recently established a special court to deal with child sex offences and has also set up a sexual offences registry.
