Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has received full support from his cabinet ministers for him to continue leading the country as the Prime Minister.
The cabinet ministers in a joint statement said they have unanimously made the decision to continue backing Muhyiddin’s leadership following a meeting today.
They said every decision by the government was made collectively by the cabinet ministers, after taking into account views from all parties.
“The priority of the government right now is to make the National Recovery Plan a success for the sake of the people’s well-being, nation’s prosperity and to bring the country out of the Covid-19 pandemic,” it said.
Last week, Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi urged Muhyiddin to step down, claiming that the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government had failed to fulfil the people’s aspirations amid the pandemic.
Zahid said the Umno Supreme Council had also decided to withdraw support for Muhyiddi
Dissent is growing high on social media with hashtags denouncing the government’s alleged incompetence, with suggestions for a street protest to pressure Muhyiddin and his men growing louder.
