DAP Youth has again clashed with Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh, further highlighting their uneasy alliance with the Madani government.

The latest dispute arises from the Merlimau assemblyperson’s strong criticism of DAP MP Chow Yu Hui’s proposal to establish a federal minister for non-Islamic affairs.

“When elected representatives are ignorant of government functions, the constitution, and sensitivities that must be respected, we end up with utterly foolish representatives.

“If such an idea is supported, and those who oppose it are accused of being opposition supporters, then my response to you is: it would be better for you to just die!” Akmal stated in a social media post.

Despite addressing Akmal as “bro,” DAP Youth publicity secretary and Tanah Rata assemblyperson Ho Chi Yang made it clear that his response lacked any brotherly sentiment, calling out the Umno Youth chief’s “foolishness.”

“Bro, take it easy first. Yes, Islam is the religion of the federation, and no political party has ever disputed that.

“Maybe the representative who tells others to just go die is also seen as a fool (bangang) in the eyes of others. Don’t just twist words cleverly – it comes off as disrespectful,” he said.
