The late tycoon and philanthropist T Ananda Krishnan has been cremated at the Loke Yew Crematorium.
His remains were brought from his residence in Jalan Berhala Brickfields at around 9.45am on Wednesday (Dec 4) for cremation, following the completion of religious rituals, reported Astro Awani
The ceremony was attended by around 100 family members and close acquaintances, including former transport minister and MCA president Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik.
On Tuesday (Dec 3), hundreds turned up in Ananda’s residence in Brickfields to pay their last respects during the wake from 5pm to 9pm.
Among those spotted attending his wake were former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, his wife Tun Dr Hasmah Mohd Ali, his son Tan Sri Mokhzani and Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department M. Kulasegaran
In a gesture of humility and respect for privacy, the media was not permitted inside the premises, following a request from Ananda’s family.
Ananda, who was born in Brickfields, passed away at the age of 86 in Switzerland on Thursday (Nov 28).
Estimated to be worth US$5.8bil (RM25.7bil), Ananda often made it to the annual Forbes list of wealthiest people, being ranked as the third richest person in Malaysia.
