Not Tuesday, possibly Wednesday.

The Pardons Board will only convene to consider Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s possible release on Wednesday, PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil said today.

PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar said earlier that the board was scheduled to meet at 11am tomorrow after it postponed a meeting due for 5pm today.

“PKR has been informed by the Prime Minister’s Department that the Pardons Board will meet on Wednesday, May 16.

“Consequently, any programmes related to Anwar’s release are postponed until further notice,” he said in a statement.

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad previously said Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V has expressed his willingness to grant Anwar a full pardon.

Anwar is serving a five-year sentence for his second sodomy conviction and is already due to be freed on June 8 following a remission of his sentence for good behaviour.
