Pengarang MP Azalina Othman Said has been appointed the special adviser on law and human rights to Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
She confirmed on Facebook a news report of the appointment.
In the post, she said she received her appointment letter on Thursday and thanked Ismail for having trust in her.
“God willing, I will do my best for the country,” she added.
Azalina resigned as deputy speaker on August 23, expressing frustration at the lack of parliamentary reforms.
She was among the few Umno lawmakers who drew respect from Pakatan Harapan MPs for her fair treatment of the Opposition in Parliament.
The former lawyer has been vocal about the need to reform Parliament and the Attorney-General’s Office for the separation of prosecutorial powers.
