The embattled Perlis Mentri Besar says he has not received any letter of expulsion.
Datuk Azlan Man today said he has not received any letter of expulsion from Umno or Barisan Nasional (BN), despite Perlis BN chairman Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim announcing the matter yesterday.
As such, he said the question of his expulsion was a non-issue as the matter cannot be decided by only one individual.
“There is no letter…who expelled me from what? There is no expulsion…it cannot be done by one person alone,” he told reporters.
The 60-year-old Bintong assemblyman was appointed and sworn in as Perlis mentri besar for the second term yesterday after BN retained the state in GE14, winning 10 out of the 15 state seats, while Pakatan Harapan won three, and PAS, two.
Later in the day, Shahidan announced that Perlis Umno had proposed to the Umno top leadership to expel Azlan from the party, saying that he did not receive the support of the majority of Perlis BN assemblymen.
In response to how he would run the state if the state assemblymen who were supposed to be appointed as executive councillors did not support him, Azlan said the matter could not be resolved as of now.
“We need some time (to resolve that), I don’t want to make any further comment now, I will just continue working as the mentri besar,” he said.
