A pair of brothers were jointly charged at the Petaling Jaya Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday (Sept 17) in connection with the murder of a couple whose bodies were found stuffed in bags in August.

The siblings appeared calm as they were ushered into the dock.

No plea was recorded from the brothers, who are Indian nationals.

According to the charge sheet, the duo caused the deaths of Lim Ah Kee @ Lim Kok Hoe, 79, and his wife, Tan Siew Mee, 52, between 8pm on Aug 23 to 3.20am on Aug 24, 2019.

The offence was said to have been committed at a unit of the Main Place Residence, Jalan USJ 21/10, Subang Jaya.

The charge carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Hakim Amir Abdul Hamid led the prosecution, while lawyers Gerard Lazarus and Gabriel Susayan represented the brothers.

Sagar and Shubham were arrested on Aug 29, following police investigations into the case after Tan’s body was found stuffed in a suitcase along a drain in Shah Alam on Aug 26.

Tan was identified based on a fingerprint check with the National Registration Department.

The brothers led the police to Lim’s body, also stuffed in a suitcase, thrown in a drain near Alam Megah LRT station, following their arrests on Aug 29.

The court set Nov 18 for mention.
