DAP lawmaker RSN Rayer has called for the immediate arrest of Zamri Vinoth after the controversial Muslim preacher republished a Facebook post mocking Hindus.

“Despite having his post removed by the authorities and being summoned for questioning, Zamri remains unrepentant,” said the Jelutong MP.

“He continues to incite, instigate, and fuel racial and religious tensions by reposting inflammatory and provocative content mocking Hinduism on his Facebook.”

Rayer urged authorities to act swiftly, stressing that Zamri poses a serious threat to national security and harmony.

“Zamri must be arrested immediately and charged in court. His repeated sharing of seditious and irresponsible posts threatens national stability and peace. The police must act decisively to show that no one is above the law,” he added.

Earlier, Malaysiakini reported that the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) had requested Meta to remove Zamri’s post, which compared kavadi bearers during Thaipusam to individuals who are possessed or intoxicated.

The post, published on 5 March, also referenced the 2018 death of firefighter Adib Kassim during a riot outside a Hindu temple in Selangor. After widespread backlash and multiple police reports, it was removed today.

Police and the MCMC are investigating Zamri, who has also accepted a debate challenge from MIC deputy president M Saravanan. Previously, Saravanan had called for Zamri’s arrest under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma).
