Putrajaya has clarified today that the conditional movement control order (CMCO) ordered for “Klang” will only include the Klang “mukim” (parish or sub-district), rather than the whole district.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the details of specific locations which fall under the Klang “mukim” will only be revealed by the Selangor state government later today.
“After getting advice from the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Selangor mentri besar we have excluded Kapar from the CMCO, but Klang ‘mukim’ will be under the CMCO,” Ismail said in his press briefing.
He also said that essential services would be allowed to operate normally, including banking services.

“Banks are included in essential needs. Banks will be open, especially automated teller machines (ATMs). All banks are urged to open their ATMs to ensure people can take out money,” Ismail said.
He also said some other changes had been made, including the wholesale market being allowed to operate from 4am to 2pm, normal markets from 6am to 2pm and the farmers’ market from 6am to 12pm.
Restaurants and other eateries are allowed to operate from 6am to 10pm, but no dine-in is allowed. Consumers can only order takeaways, drive-throughs and deliveries.
In a separate statement, International Trade and Industry Mohamed Azmin Ali said business will operate as usual in Klang as it was an important driver of the nation’s economy.

“Therefore, after considering the current health situation in the Klang district and the importance of ensuring economic sustainability, the NSC has decided to allow all economic sectors in the Klang district to continue operating as usual, with strict adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs),” he said in a statement today.
The Gombak MP added that safety measures for the industries will be further enhanced to avoid any outbreak.
“Authorities are instructed to increase enforcement of SOP compliance to ensure the safety of workers and citizens in the Klang district,” Azmin said.
He said Selangor as a whole contributed 24% of the country’s gross domestic product and 30% of the country’s total manufacturing sector.
He also said Port Klang would be allowed to operate as usual, as it is a very important source of income for the country.
Last year alone, Port Klang contributed RM400 billion to the nation’s economy.
