The police are currently investigating claims that a politician with a Datuk title outraged the modesty of a businesswoman last year.
Ampang Jaya district police chief ACP Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the report was lodged by the victim, 48, on March 16.
“The victim claimed that the incident happened at her house in Taman Bukit Melawati around July or August last year and the man, in his 50s, is a close friend of the victim’s husband,” he said in a statement today.
“On that day, the suspect, who is a close friend of the victim’s husband, visited and stayed overnight at the victim’s house together with his wife.
“Next day early morning, when the victim was sleeping in the living room on the first floor, she woke up and found someone kissing and groping her breast.
“Once the man noticed that the victim had awakened, he immediately went downstairs and left with his wife for home,” Farouk said.
He added that the victim only filed a police report on the incident on March 16.
“She was afraid to make a police report all this while, as she feared that it would jeopardise their existing relationship.
“The victim was also unsure what to do as the suspect is an influential politician from an east coast state,” he said.
He said police have opened an investigation paper under Section 354 of the Penal Code for assault or criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty.
No arrest has been made so far.
