Covid-19: 57 New Cases, Two More Deaths

Malaysia recorded 57 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the total number of infections to 6,002 cases.

However, the Ministry of Health said out of the 57, only 32 are local transmissions, while 25 cases were imported.

In addition, two more deaths were recorded today, bringing the total number of fatalities to 102 cases, or 1.7 percent of all total cases.

One of the dead was a 64-year-old man who had close contact with a Covid-19 Bali cluster patient. He was treated at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital, Pahang but died yesterday evening. He suffered from leukaemia.

The second death was a 72-year-old man who was admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital on April 16 but succumbed to the virus today at 12.55pm.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham said 36 Covid-19 positive cases were being treated in the ICU, with 14 of them placed under ventilator support.

He said a total of 84 patients have made full recovery and discharged today, bringing the total number to 4,171 or 69.5 percent of the cumulative cases.
