Covid-19: 660 New Cases, Four Deaths

The country continued to record new Covid-19 infections numbering in three digits after 660 cases were reported overnight, along with four fatalities.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Sabah remains the state with the highest number of new cases at 429, or 65 percent or the total number of new infections, while Kedah recorded 113 cases (17.1 percent) with 109 of them from the Tembok cluster.

“This brings the Covid-19 case tally in Malaysia to 17,540 cases with active cases currently at 5,768,” he said in an online press conference on Covid-19 developments today.

Only six of the 660 new Covid-19 infections were imported.

Citizens accounted for 608 of the locally transmitted cases while the remaining 46 were foreigners.

Meanwhile, 233 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

With this, total recoveries now stand at 11,605.

Meanwhile, 108 patients are currently warded at the intensive care units, with 35 requiring respiratory support.
