The new Covid-19 positive cases remain in double digits with 69 new cases recorded as of noon today, bringing the tally of positive cases in the country to 6,071.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said of the new cases, 12 are imported while the remaining 57 cases are local transmissions.
He said during the same period, 39 recovery cases were recorded, taking the cumulative number of recovered patients to 4,210 cases or 69.3 percent of the total positive cases in the country, while 37 cases are being treated in ICUs, with 14 of them on ventilators.
“The number of Covid-19 infectivity cases is 1,758. They have been isolated and been given treatment,” he said at a daily media briefing on Covid-19 today.
Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham said the last 24 hours also saw one fatality, bringing the Covid-19 death toll in the country to 103 cases or 1.69 percent of the total positive cases.
He said the 103rd death (Case 5,441) was a 66-year-old Malaysian man with a history for cancer.
“He was in close contact with a Covid-19 patient, Case 4,818. He was treated at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital on Apr 14 and was pronounced dead on Apr 30 at 4pm.”
