Covid-19: 7 New Cases, No Local Transmissions

For the first time in months, Malaysia did not record any local transmissions among the seven new Covid-19 cases reported today.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said of the seven new cases, six were imported cases of Malaysians returning home and one is a foreigner who was screened as part of work requirements.

“For the second consecutive day, the Health Ministry recorded single digit cases again. We are also proud to announce that there are no new local transmissions, bringing the tally of infections in the country to 8,336 cases,” he said today.

The new cases raised the total number of active cases in the country to 1,244.

Dr Noor Hisham said 281 more patients have recovered and were discharged today, raising the cumulative number of recovered cases to 6,975 cases or 83.7% of the cumulative Covid-19 cases.

He added that there were six Covid-19 cases being treated at intensive care units with one case in need of a ventilator.

Dr Noor Hisham added there were no deaths notified by the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) today, with the death toll remaining at 117 (1.4% of cumulative cases).
