Crackhouse Comedy Club co-founder Rizal Van Geyzel has been detained by police for questioning.

He is being investigated over three viral videos that allegedly touch on racial and religious matters.

It is learnt that the 39-year-old was detained at about 1.30pm on Thursday (July 14) by Bukit Aman CID’s Special Investigation Unit.

Rizal’s lawyer, Ramkarpal Singh, said the comedian will spend a night at the Dang Wangi lockup.

Rizal will be brought to court on Friday at 10am for a remand order.

The father of four is reportedly being investigated under Section 298A of the Penal Code for insulting religion and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1998 for improper use of communications networks.

Several police reports were lodged against him following a woman’s controversial performance at the comedy club recently.
