A Rolls-Royce, believed to be owned by entrepreneur Datuk Seri Aliff Syukri, was among 20 vehicles impounded in an operation conducted by the Road Transport Department (RTD).
- Road tax registered in Sarawak, which cost RM5k
- Road tax supposed to be renewed in Peninsular Malaysia, which would cost RM20k
The operation, dubbed ‘Ops Patuh’, in Jalan Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, took place on Sunday night.
Allegedly registered under D’Herbs Holdings Sdn Bhd, founded by Aliff, the Rolls-Royce bearing the plate number PMD1 was seized as it was using a road tax which was registered in Sarawak.

RTD deputy director-general (Operations) Datuk Wan Ahmad Uzir Wan Sulaiman said the luxury car was believed to have been rented from Aliff and driven by an Australian man.

The foreigner was also arrested as he had no valid travel documents with him.
Wan Ahmad Uzir said the vehicle displayed a road tax which was only valid for use in Sarawak where the price was about RM5,000, which was much lower than the actual tax.
“Investigation revealed that the actual Motor Vehicle Licence (MVL) that should have been paid was about RM20,000,” he said.

Wan Ahmad Uzir said the MVL for Sabah and Sarawak could only be used for vehicles in the two states.
Vehicles which are to be used in the peninsular must also be registered in the peninsular itself.
“We will seize the car until the owner settles the remaining balance, which would be about RM15,000,” he said.
Commenting on the operation in the federal capital, Wan Ahmad Uzir said it also involved personnel from the Immigration Department who detained 60 foreigners of various nationalities for not having valid identification documents as well as overstaying. They were believed to have been on the way to celebrate New Year in the city centre.
