The Petaling Jaya magistrate’s court has tended the remand of actor and director Datuk Farid Kamil for one more day.
Farid was arrested on Jan 11 for allegedly slapping a police officer and kicking two members of the public at the Kota Damansara traffic police station.
Magistrate’s court assistant registrar Hairul Azhar Mohd Ishak issued the extended remand order for the 37-year-old today.
Clad in a grey shirt, Farid, arrived in court at about 11.30am.
Appearing calm, he thanked his fans and fellow artists for their support.
Also present at the court were his brothers who were concerned about his mental health.
They told reporters that if Farid is released on bail, they plan to refer him to a hospital for evaluation and medical treatment.
Lawyer Athari Bahardin said his client was being investigated under Section 353 of the Penal Code for criminal assault of a public servant, Section 323 of the same Act and Section 90 of the Police Act for disorderly conduct and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
Meanwhile, Farid’s wife, Datin Diana Danielle said in an Instagram posting that “my husband has never ever, not even once, been physical towards me. I stand by him and we will work towards improving what is needed and strengthening what is already solid.”
She was responding to rumours that her husband got physical with her in their marriage.
