A 14-year-old girl tried to end her own life after allegedly being molested by her own father multiple times since seven months ago and her plea for help to her mother fell on deaf ears.

  • Molested even on a motorcycle!
  • Victim’s mother still insists husband is innocent

A 37-year-old gardener was charged in the Kajang Sessions Court yesterday with six counts of committing physical sexual assault on his teenage daughter.

The offences were allegedly committed at their house in Beranang between 1am and 3pm from March to July this year, and at 4pm in August on a motorcycle while the girl was returning home from school.

The victim’s ordeal started in March when her father allegedly groped her breasts and put his hand inside her underwear.

He was also said to have molested her, the eldest of four children, when he fetched her from school on a motorbike.

All the charges were made under Section 14(1) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 (SOACA) for physical assault without sexual intercourse, which carries a maximum jail term of 20 years and liable to whipping, if found guilty.

Clad in a white shirt and black trousers, the accused was calm when he appeared in court and nodded when the charges were read to him before Judge Surita Budin.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Deputy public prosecutor Siti Noor Hafizan Zakaria asked that no bail be offered to the accused to protect the victim. The horrendous act by her father had depressed and traumatised the girl so much that she tried to kill herself.

Out of desperation, the girl had slashed her wrist when her mother ignored her allegation. She is being treated at a hospital and has been placed under the Social Welfare Department.

However, the accused’s wife who was present during the proceeding insisted that her husband was innocent and pleaded for a minimum bail.

The court did not offer bail, and set Oct 17 for mention and appointment of a counsel.

Teacher Allegedly Raped Student

A 14-year-old girl alleged that her 51-year-old school teacher had raped her.

The Form Two student related her woes to another teacher, a counsellor, who in turn alerted the victim’s mother.

State CID chief SAC Datuk Dev Kumar said the victim’s mother lodged a report at the Siburan station at 5pm on Tuesday, alleging that the teacher had sex with the girl in his car at a secluded location in Siburan near Kuching.

Dev said the teacher was arrested at his house in Tapah, two hours after the report was lodged.

Police also seized the teacher’s car for forensic examination and as part of the probe.

The suspect was remanded for seven days by the Kuching magistrate’s court yesterday morning.

The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape, which carries a maximum 30-year prison term and whipping, if found guilty.

The teenager’s mother had lodged a report on Monday after learning that her daughter had stayed in the hotel room with the businessman.

“The teen was initially reluctant to tell her mother what had happened and claimed that she had gone out with her friends. However, after (being pressed) by the mother, she revealed that she had gone to the hotel with the suspect,” Lim said.

The girl was sent to Miri Hospital for a medical checkup to confirm whether she had been raped.

‘OKU’ Man Charged with Sexually Assaulting Boy

A 35-year-old man with learning disability was charged at the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court on Tuesday with sexually assaulting an eight-year-old boy, on Sept 13.

Muhammad Anill Asiff Zamaludin, however, pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him before Judge Norma Ismail.

The accused was alleged to have performed oral sex on the child in a toilet of a community hall at Taman Tambak Paya Permai on Sept 13.

He faces up to 20 years’ jail and whipping, if convicted for the offence under the Sexual Offences Against Children Act.

The judge set bail at RM15,000 with one surety and ordered the accused to stay away from the victim.

The court also fixed Oct 19 for mention.
