A total of 24.6 million face masks will be given away to households nationwide to protect themselves against Covid-19.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the Civil Defence Force would distribute the face masks to the state National Security Councils and then to the districts.
It would then be passed on to the state Natural Disaster Management committees to the respective district frontliners who will then hand it over to the households.
“Each household will receive four pieces of face masks for free. As recommended by the Health Ministry, only those with flu-like symptoms should be wearing the masks.
“As for those in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan, it will be flown over by the Royal Malaysian Air Force on Friday,” said Ismail in Putrajaya today.
