On medical leave.
Marang MP Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang was not seen at the opening of the first meeting of the Third Session of the 15th Parliament graced by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.
Abdul Hadi had only attended 33 out of 103 Parliament sessions since July 26, 2021, according to data compiled by the MyMP database.
Previously, Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul reportedly proposed that the names of MPs found to be deliberately absent from Parliamentary sittings be displayed on the Dewan Rakyat website.
This, he said, will allow their respective constituents to be aware of the matter.
Johari said this was among measures being taken to boost the attendance of MPs during Dewan Rakyat sittings.
Meanwhile, Hadi’s aide, Mohd Syahir Che Sulaiman clarified that the Pas president is still not fit for work.
In a short text message to the media, Syahir said the Marang member of Parliament was still in recovery and had to go for several follow-up treatments in Terengganu.
“Hadi’s health does not permit (him to attend Parliament), as he is still in recovery.
“A letter and medical certificate has been submitted to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul yesterday, Feb 25,” the message read.
It was previously reported that Hadi had been hospitalised at the National Heart Institute for a heart examination since Jan 1.
On Jan 7, Syahir said Hadi’s condition had improved and he was awaiting to be discharged.
