Police believe the body of a premature baby girl found near a factory in Bakar Arang, Kedah, was headless and armless because it had been gnawed on by stray dogs.
Police received a report at 4.45am from a passer-by who had come upon the grisly remains outside a factory gate.
“The man was curious when he saw stray dogs were surrounding an object and upon closer look, saw the headless body of a baby.
“At this point, we suspect that the head and both her arms have been eaten by the strays,” said Kuala Muda police chief Asst Comm Md Zukir Md Isa.
“The post-mortem conducted at the Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah showed that the child was dead for two days prior to the post-mortem,” he said.
Zukir added that the post-mortem revealed that the baby was about 35-weeks-old.
The victim’s cause of death is not known yet.
“We are investigating the case under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealment of birth by disposal of a dead body, and are looking for the parents of the newborn,” Zukir said.
