Documented foreign workers in Malaysia may resume working once their respective sectors reopen, said Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said the special ministerial meeting on the movement control order made the decision, subject to the condition that everyone undergoes Covid-19 screening before reporting back to work.

“There are many foreign workers with valid working permits in the country who were unable to work when many economic sectors were temporarily closed during the initial stages of the MCO.

“Since almost all sectors have reopened (following the implementation of the Recovery MCO), the special ministerial meeting today has agreed to allow the foreign workers to return to work.

“The foreign workers, who are still in the country and have valid working permits, must undergo Covid-19 screening before they are allowed to return to work,” he said during his non-health related press briefing today.
