Red Shirts leader will surrender to cops on Wednesday.

Sungai Besar Umno division chief Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos says he will surrender to the police on Wednesday (May 30).

“I will present myself at the Ampang Jaya police headquarters tomorrow at around 2pm,” he said in an audio recording to the media on Tuesday.

He added that he will be holding a press conference there to explain what happened when he left before his bail process was completed.

“I did not run away from the police. There has been a misunderstanding as I have stated before. To solve this, I will go to the police,” he said.

Jamal was under police remand at the Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital’s premium ward, where he was undergoing treatment for back pain, when he escaped from police custody on May 25.

The 48-year-old was charged earlier with public nuisance for breaking bottles of alcohol in public to protest the Better Beer Festival 2017.

On May 22, he was arrested over a firearms offence.
