Singer Jason Lo and his colleague today pleaded not guilty at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court to criminal breach of trust involving RM232,500 in a recording company’s funds.

The 45-year-old artiste and Muhammad Yakub Hussaini, 47, both directors at Fat Boys Records Sdn Bhd, are accused of spending the money on personal purchases.

They entered their plea after the charges were read out before judge Sabariah Othman.

The duo were charged with committing the offence at the company’s office in Mont Kiara on April 24 and May 14 last year.

The charges are under Section 409 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same code, which provides for a maximum jail term of 20 years, whipping and a fine upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Noorhani Muhmmed Ayub prosecuted, while lawyer Alfred Chong represented both accused.

The court granted Lo and Yakub bail at RM30,000 each, and set October 2 for case mention and submission of documents.

Last November, Lo was charged at the magistrates’ court with breaking into a house and using methamphetamine. He claimed trial to both charges.
