In Perlis, a woman’s abusive boyfriend was charge yesterday with the death of her six-year-old son two weeks ago who was found to have broken ribs and a torn colon.
An unemployed man was charged in the magistrate’s court in Kangar on Thursday (May 3) with murdering a six-year-old boy two weeks ago.
Noraizuwan Hamali, 26, was charged with murdering Muhammad Rayyan Hidayat Hairil Khan at 33 Jalan Arau, Lorong Chempaka, Kampung Jejawi near here, between 3.45pm on April 18 and 12.10am the following day.
The charge, under Section 302 of the Penal Code, provides the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
However, no plea was recorded as the accused told the court that he did not understand the charge, which was read out to him twice by the court interpreter and also magistrate Norhayati Ibrahim herself, who then set June 4 for mention.
Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Nordin Ismail prosecuted, while Noraizuwan was unrepresented.
In the incident two weeks ago, Mohamad Rayyan Hidayat, who is believed to be the son of the accused’s girlfriend, was taken to the Tuanku Fauziah Hospital here after bouts of vomiting and later fell unconscious. He died the following day.
