MyPPP president Tan Sri M Kayveas has quit all his posts in the party.

He posted on his Facebook page that he has stepped down as the party president, its Kuala Lumpur chairman and Perak advisor role effective Monday (April 23).

Kayveas had earlier threatened to quit Barisan Nasional because he was unhappy that MIC was allocated the Cameron Highlands parliamentary seat.

MyPPP had been lobbying Barisan to contest the seat, where it has been working for several years.

On April 22, MIC named its Youth chief Datuk C Sivarraajh, who had also been active in the Pahang parliamentary seat, as the candidate for Cameron Highlands.

Kayveas was offered the Segambut seat in Kuala Lumpur but he turned it down, saying it would be difficult to win there as the appointment came too close to the election.

This triggered rumours that myPPP would leave BN in a show of protest, although Kayveas subsequently said it would remain in the coalition.

Kayveas became myPPP president in 1993. He is currently an advisor to the transport ministry, which is a ministerial status post.
