Rumour mill in overdrive after Umno ministers’ hotel ‘breakfast’ meet.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has denied that a gathering that took place this morning was related to the dissolution of Parliament.
Instead, the gathering of Umno ministers was just to have breakfast together, he said.
“Wallahi, it was just a gathering and breakfast together, after not seeing each other for so long,” he told a press conference after visiting the Malaysian Red Crescent Society headquarters today.
Khairy was responding to a question on a gathering among Umno ministers that took place in Putrajaya this morning.
“The gathering did not discuss the dissolution of Parliament, as touted by some quarters.
“Just a breakfast. Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican paid for the breakfast,” he said.
Speculations abound that the ministers were plotting to dissolve Parliament soon, following the government’s narrow failure to pass a bill in the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday.
Among those sighted were Khairy himself, Annuar Musa, Shahidan Kassim, Noraini Ahmad, Reezal Merican Naina Merican, Noh Omar, and Halimah Mohd Saddique.
The ministers in attendance denied anything nefarious, with Annuar telling the media that they were just having breakfast.
When contacted, Reezal also said the group had gone to the hotel just to have their morning meal after the day’s cabinet meeting was delayed.
He denied there was any talk of dissolving Parliament.
