A landlord and agent found themselves in the police lock-up yesterday after locking a woman in an apartment for not paying her monthly rent.
The tenant’s ordeal began at 7.30pm on Saturday when the 44-year-old landlord and 29-year-old real estate agent padlocked the grille door of her apartment at Pandora Residence in Tropicana Metropark, Subang Jaya, leaving her locked up for 16 hours, the Malay Mail Online reported.

The 26-year-old tenant eventually contacted her family who filed a police report on the incident and was freed at 11.30am on Sunday.
According to Subang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohammad Azlin Sadari, she was forcefully confined after failing to pay the monthly rent of RM1,100.
Police tracked down the landlord, who is a salesman, and the estate agent on Sunday and arrested them.
The case is being investigated under Section 342 of the Penal Code for wrongful confinement, which carries a jail term of up to a year, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, upon conviction.
