Accused of 12 counts of gross indecency and committing unnatural sex on three teenage orphans, lecturer faces up to 20 years in jail and whipping if found guilty.

A lecturer of a higher learning institution was charged in the Special Court for Sexual Crimes Against Children here on 12 counts of gross indecency and committing unnatural sex on three orphans.
Mohd Faiz Mustaffa, 30, however, pleaded not guilty to all charges on Tuesday.
He was charged with committing the offences on the three boys, then aged 13, 14 and 15, at three places – a children’s home in Sungai Buloh, a toilet at the pharmacy faculty of an institution of higher learning in Puncak Alam and a toilet at Saujana Utama Country Resort, Sungai Buloh, between 2015 and 2016 and May 14 this year.
The charges were made under Section 377E of the Penal Code, which provides an imprisonment for up to 15 years and whipping, if found guilty, and Section 377C of the same law, which provides an imprisonment for up to 20 years and whipping, upon conviction.
Judge Yong Zarida Sazali allowed Mohd Faiz bail of RM60,000 in one surety for all charges and set Dec 8 for mention.
She also warned Mohd Faiz against contacting or intimidating the victims, physically or through social media, until disposal of the case.
Mohd Faiz was also ordered to report himself at the nearest police station on the first day of every month and to surrender his passport to the court.
