Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has been arrested.

Three MACC vehicles were seen entering his residence at about 2pm today.

He was arrested at his residence in Langgak Duta by MACC officers at 2.35pm on Tuesday (July 3).

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) sources confirmed the arrest.
“Wait for our statement,” the source said.
MACC chief commissioner Mohd Shukri Abdull told the media that the former premier has been taken to the commission’s headquarters in Putrajaya for further questioning.
The former premier would be charged at 8.30am tomorrow (July 4) in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court for offences related to money-laundering.
Meanwhile, sources told Malaysiakini that Najib might be slapped with multiple charges.
“He could be charged under Section 409 of the Penal Code for Criminal Breach of Trust (CBT) and Section 23 of the MACC Act,” said the source.
If convicted for CBT, he could face a jail term of between two and 20 years, whipping and be liable for a fine.
Section 23 of the MACC Act is related to offences of using the office or position for personal gratification or for family members.
If convicted, he could face a jail term not exceeding 20 years and fine not exceeding five times the amount involved.
He could also be charged under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (Amla).
