A Malaysia Airlines flight attendant was reportedly arrested for smuggling 3.5kg of heroin worth RM5.6 million into Australia.

The 33-year-old was arrested at Melbourne International Airport on May 13 after Australian Border Force officials noticed him behaving “suspiciously” after arriving from Kuala Lumpur, Daily Mail Australia reported.

Ten packets wrapped in masking tape were found on him, which “returned an indication of heroin” after preliminary testing, a spokesman for the Australian federal police told the daily.

The report said the Malaysian man has been charged with possessing and importing a commercial quantity of heroin and will appear in court on August 6.
