Eerily similar to the incident in Johor Bahru on Oct 6 where a man was believed to have killed his wife, strangled his two children an hanged himself in their home due to debts.
A man, his two sons and daughter were found dead in a bedroom of their house in Perdana Heights, Sungai Petani, yesterday.
The man was 48. His two sons were five and six, while his daughter was eight.
Kedah CID chief SAC Mior Farid Al-Athrash Wahid, when contacted, confirmed the incident, saying police believed that the man hanged himself after suffocating his children with a pillow.
“Based on initial investigation, police believe that before the man hanged himself, he suffocated his children, most probably using a pillow,” he said.
Mior Farid said financial problem faced by the family was believed to be the motive.
For now, he said the case was classified as sudden death.
Meanwhile, the man’s 20-year-old son from a previous marriage said his father had come to see him and his 19-year-old sister two days ago.
During the meeting, he said his father told them that he was sad.
“I know that the three siblings had been absent from school for the past week. Their mother died 20 days ago,” he told reporters at the scene.
The bodies were taken to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for post-mortem.
