Man Under Quarantine Detained at PJ Shoplot

Police detained an elderly man for allegedly violating the Covid-19 mandatory quarantine order.

Petaling Jaya district police chief Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the 63-year-old man who was wearing a pink quarantine wristband was spotted loitering at a shoplot area in Damansara Perdana near here yesterday.

“The man was detained at 11.43am following public complaints.

“It is learnt the man had just returned from Sabah and was ordered to undergo self-quarantine at home from September 28 to October 11,” he told Bernama, adding that the man has tested negative for Covid-19.

Nik Ezanee said the man had also tried to cover the wristband using a white cloth.

He said police would seek a remand order from the Petaling Jaya court tomorrow.

The case is being investigated under Section 15(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.
