Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Bung Moktar Radin says MCA’s calls for the coalition chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to resign is baseless, and the component party should look in the mirror instead.

He said it was unfair to put the blame only on one leader without acknowledging the party’s own fault.

“MCA needs to ask itself how it could win only two seats it contested in the 15th General Election (GE15).

“Were they not aware that the chairman gave them all the seats contested in the general election, even those with many Malay voters.

“Look at yourself first before making such a call. We in BN must be calm to face the current situation,” he said, adding that the calls by MCA were seen as disrespecting the chairman.

Bung was commenting on calls made by MCA that Zahid should be replaced with his deputy Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, following Zahid’s letter to the King, claiming that BN members of parliament are supporting Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the country’s 10th prime minister.

Earlier, MCA secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon said the party believed that Zahid was unfit to continue leading BN while urging for his resignation soon. MCA is a component party of BN.

Meanwhile, Sungai Besar Umno division chief Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos has called on MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong to step down from his position.
