E-hailing operator EzCab has taken the lead in being the first in the industry here to offer a panic button feature on its app.
EzCab has launched an SOS button, which is on the right-hand side of the EzCab app, allowing riders to notify the police in case of an emergency.
“By just tapping on the panic button, the passengers are allowed to either contact the PDRM support line (999), the emergency contact number they have registered when they sign up for the app or EzCab 24/7 customer support centre where there will be a team on-standby to respond to any emergency immediately,” EzCab founder Nor Aleeshah Abdullah said during a media briefing on the feature today.
With passenger safety foremost in mind, Aleeshah added that stringent checks have been put in place and all EzCab drivers are registered with the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD).
SPAD chief executive officer Mohd Azharuddin Mat Sah called for the drivers’ details to be shared with the commission to allow it to screen the drivers with the police and the Road Transport Department.
Aleeshah added that the EzCab app has been downloaded by more than 10,000 users.
“EzCab provides users with a convenient way to book a ride and enjoy the services of professional and experienced taxi drivers.
Backed by a round-the-clock customer support centre, EzCab has developed a loyal following among users who demand reliability and security,” Aleeshah said.
She revealed that only drivers with the PSV (Public Service Vehicle) licence were permitted to provide services under the company.
“They can opt for a fixed fare or metered fare booking, and we strive to be equitable and fair to both taxi drivers and passengers,” Aleeshah said.
