Motorcyclist in hit-and-run accident leaves number plate behind, while a teenage motorcycle pillion rider dies after being hit by a car and then run over by a lorry.
A picture of a licence plate believed to have fallen off a motorcycle involved in a hit-and-run accident on Thursday has been widely circulated on social media.
In the incident, a young boy and his mother were allegedly knocked down by a motorcycle near The Strand shopping complex in Kota Damansara.
Facebook user Ash Halip uploaded the picture of the boy wrapped in bandages and with what appears to be a bloodied nose. The boy is the son of Ash’s friend.
Many netizens have condemned the motorcyclist for fleeing the scene of the accident.
It is said that some netizens did a summons check on the plate number through an SMS service and allegedly discovered that there were four outstanding summonses. Apparently, the insurance for the motorcycle has also expired.
In another incident, a teenaged motorcycle pillion rider was killed when his vehicle was hit by a car. The impact threw him and his friend onto the road and a lorry ran over them.
The accident happened at KM 68.7 of Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kota Bharu at 2:40 pm yesterday.
Luqmanulhakim Abdul Rahman, 19, from Kampung Bintang, died on the spot, while Mohamad Firdaus Mat Wiah suffered serious injuries.
It is learnt that the duo’s Honda C100 was heading towards Kota Bharu from Kuala Terengganu when it crashed into a Perodua Kancil, which was making a turn to the right side of the road.
Both victims were thrown off their vehicle and were lying on the road when a lorry heading towards Kuala Terengganu from Kota Bharu ran over them.
The case is being investigated for reckless driving and causing death.
