The actress and singer who committed suicide had cried out for help as far back as 2018.
- Felt “alone in this world”, “feared the future”
- Cheerful during shooting of commercial a day before her death
- Fans allowed to pay last respects, funeral to be held privately
SM Entertainment, the agency managing the late South Korean actress and singer Sulli, will allow fans to pay their last respects to their idol.
In an unexpected turn of events, AllKpop reported that the management, which had pleaded for privacy for Sulli’s funeral to be held in an undisclosed location, announced that fans can ‘send off their idol’ from 3pm to 8pm today and from noon to 8pm on Wednesday at the Severance Hospital funeral parlour.
The company had earlier requested privacy and respect on behalf of the family of Sully from fans and the media, “so that Sulli’s last journey will be beautiful”.
It was reported that Sulli, who committed suicide, had cried out for help as far back as 2018.
In a programme ‘Truth Store’ last year, the 25-year-old said that she was very tired but no one would listen to her, reported Sin Chew Daily.
“It seems like I am left alone in this world,” she had said.
During the programme, Sulli also mentioned that she was scared most of the time as she joined the entertainment industry at a young age.
“Half of the time I do not why am I doing all these things.
“Then it came to a point where I started to realise that I should not be doing what I am doing now.”
Sulli also revealed that she was very afraid of the future.
“I try to protect myself, but nobody would hear me.”
At the end of the programme, Sulli urged the media to write more positive news.
“Reporters, please love me more,” she said, extending a similar request to her fans.
Sulli had been a target for cyber bullies, who often criticised her choice of clothing and her decision to go braless as she disliked “the wires”.
Reportedly, a day before Sulli was found dead at her home in Seoul, she was all smiles while busy shooting a commercial.
She was upbeat and cheery at the shooting location, reported Sin Chew Daily, without showing any signs of what was to follow.
Pictures shared by her fans, showed Sulli posing away while smiling broadly, including with the production crew.
Sulli, whose real name is Choi Jin-ri, first gained attention as a child actress, playing the young Princess Seonhwa of Silla in the SBS drama Ballad of Seodong before her debut with K-Pop girl group f(x) in 2009.
She took a year-long hiatus in 2014 and chose to leave the group to pursue an acting career, appearing in various dramas and films with her most recent appearance being in the popular TV drama Hotel del Luna.
Earlier this year she had released the single ‘Goblin’, surprising fans who had thought she had retired from music.
Sulli’s funeral will be held privately at an undisclosed location.
