Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has been appointed as the chairman of the BN advisory board.
Najib’s appointment was made during a Barisan Nasional (BN) meeting last night and was unanimously agreed upon by its High Council.
BN secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said in a statement on Tuesday (July 9) that with Najib’s appointment, it is hoped BN will regain the people’s confidence.
“The decision to make Najib Razak the advisory board chairman is unanimous. He will assist BN in its efforts to win back the people’s support,” Tengku Adnan said.
Najib served as the BN chairman before he resigned in the aftermath of the 2018 elections.
Earlier, he was seen arriving at the Umno headquarters at Menara Dato’ Onn for the BN supreme council meeting.
Other BN leaders seen arriving earlier for the meeting include MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M Saravanan and Umno Wanita chief Datuk Dr Noraini Ahmad.
Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and deputy president Mohamad Hasan were also at the meeting.
