Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz has sought forgiveness from the Johor Crown Prince, according to a post on the Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page.

The post did not state why Nazri was apologising, but in June 2015, he had traded barbs with Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim over the latter’s post criticising Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for failing to turn up for the Nothing2Hide forum.

Nazri, however, had defended the prime minister and used somewhat hostile language to rebuke Tunku Ismail, who is better known as TMJ.

The Padang Rengas MP told the Johor royal to stay out of politics or be willing to get “whacked”, while the latter reminded Nazri that he was “not a God from the heavens who lords above everybody”.

“Do not think that the people of this country exist to provide you with position and wealth, but the position exists for you to serve the people,” Tunku Ismail had said in a post entitled ‘Message for Malaysians’.

Nazri was later investigated under Section 505B of the Penal Code for making statements that could cause “fear or alarm to the public”.

The Johor royal family granted an audience to Nazri today.

In the Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page, Nazri was seen meeting with Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar.

“Nazri Aziz came to ask the Sultan of Johor’s views and suggestions on national governance for the future,” it said.
