The MCMC also assures there is no mass monitoring on social media and emails.
There is no social media monitoring of the Johor royal family’s social media accounts, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said in a press statement on Monday (Sept 10).

“In response to the Tunku Mahkota Johor’s Facebook statement titled ‘My Father and I Being Monitored’, the police wish to assure the Johor Palace that this is not taking place.
“I will seek an audience with His Majesty the Johor Sultan to brief him over this matter,” the IGP said.
Yesterday Johor’s crown prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim in a Facebook posting said he and his father, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, are “being monitored” through their social media pages by certain parties using covert intelligence systems.
He claimed that this was revealed to him by officials who he did not identify.
“It is not nice when officials come to me saying that my father, the Sultan and Johor and I are being monitored. And that there are cybertroopers planted, waiting in case there is something that does not go down well with certain higher-ups.

“Yes, I am vocal and that is simply because I care for Johor and its people. I will not stand still if there are certain parties trying to take advantage of the people of Johor or break this unique unity we have.”
The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has also denied claims that it carried out mass monitoring of any social media or emails.
MCMC acting chairman Datuk Dr Mohd Ali Mohamad Nor said any investigations into social media postings and enforcement action were conducted as a result of complaints or requests by law enforcement agencies.

“MCMC does not carry out mass monitoring of any social media or emails.
“The government upholds the right to freedom of speech and privacy within the confines of the law, and MCMC will assist if there is a breach of the law,” he said in a statement on Monday (Sept 10).
