Tan Sri Noh Omar says he resigned as chairman of MISC Bhd chairman as a matter of principle and not because of politics.
Sinar Harian reported the Tanjong Karang MP as saying that he wanted to focus more on the people and the country.
“When I am appointed to a position, I have to look at the contribution and service I can give to the people as well as helping improve policies.

“Being appointed as MISC chairman with allowances of almost RM30,000 is not the main goal. As an MP, I have to think of my contribution – not only to the residents of Tanjong Karang but of the whole country,” he was quoted as saying on Friday (June 19).
Noh, the former urban well-being, housing and local government minister, stepped down as chairman just 17 days after being appointed to the position on June 1.
He said that the position was only suited for corporate figures or political retirees as it was profit-oriented and only focused on the company.
MISC in a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Thursday stated that Noh had tendered his resignation following a discussion with Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
The 62-year-old took over the reins from Ab Halim Mohyiddin, who was re-designated as independent and non-executive director of the company.
Noh, who is formerly the urban wellbeing, housing and local government minister, was among the Perikatan Nasional backbenchers given key positions in government-linked companies, a move that was widely perceived to be the prime minister’s attempt at buying support.
