A car driving against traffic on the MEX highway caused a five-vehicle pileup at Km10.7 and killed one person.
The accident occurred at around 3.30am Saturday (July 7), according to City Traffic Investigation and Enforcement deputy chief Supt Sarifudin Mohd Salleh.
“Preliminary investigations show that a grey Mazda was driving against traffic (on the highway).

“The accident occurred after another car, a silver Proton, crashed into the Mazda after it failed to move out of the way,” he said.
Supt Sarifudin said that three other vehicles, which were part of a convoy from the same company, were also involved in the collision as they were unable to swerve out of the way in time.

The four-car convoy was on their way back to Putrajaya from the capital.
The resulting crash led to the death of the private security guard, 36-year-old Juhan Sabturani, who succumbed to head injuries.
Four drivers were seriously injured and rushed to the hospital.
The driver of the Mazda was among the injured and has yet to be interviewed by the police.
Details on why the car was driving against traffic are unknown.
